Services

ServicesCRISIS COUNSELING/INTERVENTION
Staff, volunteers and interns respond to emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our services are free and confidential. Collect calls are accepted. If not an emergency and you would like to leave us a message, call 379-9878. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
Short-term individual counseling in a non-judgmental atmosphere that acknowledges a person's ability and right to make choices. Help is available to consider options and plan for safety. Home visits may be provided in a location that is safe for both the victim and advocate.

WOMEN'S SUPPORT GROUP
A facilitated self-help for women affected by domestic violence. Group offers a chance for victims to be with other women who have been abused, and with whom they may have a lot in common. It has helped many women feel less isolated, get good information, and develop a safety plan. Provides mutual support and understanding.

ADVOCACY
Advocates assist victims in obtaining orders of protection, pressing charges, and working with the police. We also help in obtaining emergency assistance from the Department of Social Services, the Office of Victim Services, and other community programs. Advocates are available to accompany a victim to the hospital, police station, lawyer's appointment, court proceeding, Department of Social Services, and more.

Help in finding appropriate and accessible services.

CHILDREN/YOUTH PROGRAM
This program acknowledges the many effects that abuse has on children. A weekly recreational/support group is available to help children understand what is happening to them and give them a chance to talk about their feelings and have fun. Individual counseling, mentoring, and child recreation is also provided.

TRANSPORTATION
Based on individual need and staff availability.

SAFE HOUSING
A safe and confidential place for emergency, temporary shelter for domestic violence victims. During their stay, advocates assist victims in exploring options and planning their future. Renewal House currently operates a 9-bed safe-dwelling and up to a 15 site safe-home network.

SEXUAL ASSAULT NURSE EXAMINERS
Specially trained medical professionals providing compassionate, knowledgeable assistance to a victim of a sexual assault.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH/EDUCATION
Presentations available for any public or private group, school, business, or agency.
